Info:

The Zenith chronograph reference A 277, is a model that in recent years has come onto the radar of serious collectors. It is a beautiful watch with very similar characteristics to the manual wind Heuer Autavia from the 1970s. Just see Jeff Stein's comparison of the A 277 versus the Autavia http://chronocentric.com/forums/heuer/index.cgi?md=read;id=59259. At 40mm in diameter, it is a watch that has pleasing and wearable dimensions. Featuring the beautiful calibre 146H movement, the A 277 was one of the last manual-wind chronographs Zenith made before switching to automatic El Primero movements for all of their chronograph. If the movement design looks a little familiar, it is because it is an updated version of the movements found in Universal Geneve watches, which were designed a company called Martel. Zenith bought Martel and the right to their movements in 1960. The A277 is rightly directly compared to the Movado Super Sub Sea, they are virtually identical watches, even to the point that Movado used the Zenith's Cal.146hp movement.
