The Heuer 2444 was one of the company's earliest wrist chronographs and shows a bridge between the ‘50s chronographs and the beginnings of a more ascetic, less decorated style that would come to characterise 1960s Heuer. The majority of Heuer's business was still in timers and stopwatches, but with the advent of the ref. 2444 followed swiftly by the 2447 Carrera and 2446, the timers were soon to be superseded by the craze for the wrist chronograph.
